Anansi and the Hot Pepper Soup

One day, Anansi was invited to a feast. Wanting to impress everyone, he boasted: “I can eat more soup than all of you!”

The host, amused, served him a bowl of fiery Scotch bonnet pepper soup. Anansi gulped it down, his eyes watering and his tongue burning like fire. Determined not to lose face, he smiled and said, “Ahh, delicious!”

But soon, steam puffed from his ears, and he ran outside to dunk his head in the water barrel while everyone roared with laughter.

Lesson: Pride will burn you faster than pepper.
